Brownfields

Reclaiming Alabama One Site At A Time

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM or Department) is excited about the Brownfields redevelopment program. Through this program, the Department is committed to helping municipalities, communities and developers throughout Alabama reclaim and redevelop environmentally contaminated real estate. Redeveloping these properties, in turn, creates valuable opportunities for communities to improve beauty and safety, increase local taxes, support job growth, and clean up and protect the environment. Alabama's Brownfields program presents municipalities and developers with a wealth of opportunities and information. Reclaiming contaminated or unused sites, and creating valuable, profitable and environmentally sound property benefits every member of the community.
